For about the past 40 years, the federal government has spent more money than it has collected in revenue. This has resulted in a spiraling federal debt burden of more than 38 trillion dollars that drains key economic resources.
Congress should put the brakes on out-of-control spending by an amendment to the Constitution of the United States. This amendment would require a balanced budget every year unless a deficit is authorized by a recorded vote of three-fifths of both houses of Congress. It would also require a two-thirds majority vote by Congress to raise taxes.
A Balanced Budged Amendment would protect the American people from stealth tax hikes and also demand that politicians cut wasteful spending first.

In 2025 government regulations cost the U.S. economy at least 2.1 trillion annually, and this number is mushrooming.
Sunsetting government regulations would allow outdated, counterproductive decrees to expire. This would cut the bureaucratic red tape that stifles economic growth.
