ABOUT
The National League of Taxpayers
The National League of Taxpayers is a grassroots network of citizens throughout the United States who are committed to limiting the size and cost of government.
American taxpayers are being bled by government at all levels. Since the group’s inception in 1994, the national debt has soared from $4.69 trillion to $39 trillion, forcing hard-working Americans to hand over ever-increasing amounts of money from their paychecks to fund wasteful and counterproductive environmental, humanities and social welfare programs.
At the current rate of spending, Americans must work the first four and a half months out of every year to earn enough money to pay their taxes — eating up precious resources that could be spent on paying the rent, putting food on their tables, taking care of their families, and investing in businesses and technology that will help the economy grow.
State governments also have a large role in the tax burden families face every day. From state income and sales taxes to government spending, decisions made in state capitols have a direct impact on families, businesses, and local economies.
That's why taxpayers need a voice not only in Washington, D.C., but also in every state legislature across the country. By monitoring state budgets, exposing wasteful spending, and encouraging fiscal responsibility, we help ensure that taxpayers are represented wherever their hard-earned dollars are being spent.
Given the explosive growth in taxes and budgets at both the state and federal level, the united action of members of the National League of Taxpayers presents the politicians with a strong voice of reason.
As an organization, we make it our highest priority to educate and mobilize our members and the American public on key taxation and budget issues. At the same time, we work to make voting taxpayers aware of just how their state and federal elected officials are voting and where their candidates stand on these important issues.
At the same time, Big Government just keeps getting bigger. Every year legislators at the federal, state and local levels spend billions of dollars in taxpayer money to fund pet projects and wasteful organizations.
One of the reasons for the waste in government is redundancy. There are 79 different programs for welfare, 160 for housing assistance, 47 for job training, 82 for teacher quality, 80 for transportation assistance, and 56 for financial education.

The League of Taxpayers educates and mobilizes voters to put the heat on spendthrift candidates for Congress about their votes and platform.
